Visit Historic Germantown’s sites every second Saturday from May to October!

Visit Cliveden and our sister sites in Historic Germantown to learn more about our country’s beginnings in your own backyard! We’ll be open for tours–they’re free!

    Join foodways historian Michael Twitty and local jazz great Warren Oree for a day of food and music as we explore the history of the Chews and their enslaved and free workers in new ways. This event is free to the public and we encourage you to bring a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic for Warren's concert at 3 PM. This is an event you don't want to miss!

    As part of Historic Germantown's Independence Day Celebration, Cliveden will be open 12 PM to 4 PM. Admission is FREE! We will have a variety of activities for visitors of all ages, such as tours of our Main House; new exhibition, The Chews & The Complex Institution of Slavery, permanent exhibition, Life, Liberty and the Pursuit of Happiness? and loaned objects from the Lest We Forget Slavery Museum; and interactive activities in our 1767 Kitchen Dependency and 1959 Kitchen.

    Germantown's colonial history comes alive at the Revolutionary Germantown Festival! From 10 AM to 4 PM, visit Historic Germantown sites, watch two reenactments of the Battle of Germantown on Cliveden's grounds, and enjoy a day of fun, food, and history in your backyard! After the battle, visit Historic Grumblethorpe for the Battle Bash--the annual after Battle party filled with food, music, and reenactors. 

    Admission is FREE and has activities for visitors of all ages. Mark your calendars for October 6-we promise a day unlike any other!
