The Revolutionary Germantown Festival returns Saturday October 3rd from 12 pm to 4 pm! This year, journey through sixteen Historic Germantown sites and learn how the American Revolution and the Battle of Germantown affected the people living in Germantown in 1777. The festival is free to the public and will have activities suitable for all ages. Guidebooks with maps of the neighborhood, information about participating sites and activities, and locations of restaurants and cafes will be available at participating institutions and online.
Cliveden will be open from 12 pm to 4 pm on October 3rd. At 1 pm and 3 pm, hear author Tom McGuire tell the story of the Surprise at Germantown. At 2 pm, visit with Ned Hector, an African American teamster to learn about the experience of African American soldiers during the American Revolution. Re-enactors will be encamped on site. There will be a musket firing demonstration at 12 pm and 4 pm to open and close the festival.
