Join foodways historian Michael Twitty and local jazz great Warren Oree for a day of food and music as we explore the history of the Chews and their enslaved and free workers in new ways. This event is free to the public, will be held outdoors on our beautiful grounds, and will feature a cooking demonstration by Michael Twitty and a jazz concert performed by Warren Oree! Copies of Mr. Twitty’s award-winning book, The Cooking Gene, will be available for purchase courtesy of Blue Marble Books.
We encourage you to bring family, friends, a blanket or lawn chair and a picnic on June 9th. This is an event you don’t want to miss!
