Audience participating in pre-program activities for ‘Liberty to Go to See.’

This year, Cliveden’s #GivingTuesday campaign will be focused solely around Liberty to Go to See, our award-winning dramatic event, held annually the week of Juneteenth (June 19). What was life like for the enslaved persons and servants who worked at Cliveden in colonial Germantown? How did it feel to have your liberty denied? Liberty to Go to See gives life to history like you’ve never seen it before.

This award-winning, immersive dramatic experience was written by high school students from Philadelphia Young Playwrights and is based on actual stories discovered in the Chew Family Papers. Professionally produced and performed at Cliveden, Liberty to Go to See explores issues of race, equality, and justice through the voices of Cliveden’s inhabitants over the course of a century.

Liberty to Go to See engages audiences, inspires conversations, and promotes multicultural understanding. YOU can help Cliveden present Liberty to Go to See so more people of all ages can experience this unique production and feel its power!

Plan now to give generously on Giving Tuesday. Thank you!
