Majora Carter
Majora Carter is a real estate developer, urban revitalization strategy consultant, a MacArthur Fellow (2005) and Peabody Award winning broadcaster (2011). The list of Ms. Carter’s accolades is a long one; after three TED talks –  “Greening the Ghetto” (2006), “3 stories of local eco-entrepreneurship” (2010) and “You don’t have to leave your neighborhood to live in a better one” (2022) – her messages have had upwards of 5M views over almost two decades on the platform. She joins us for an election night talk as the City of Philadelphia could be a model city for development without displacement.
American Teahouse
American Teahouse is a lifestyle brand that has roots in Historic Germantown. Pre-pandemic the leadership opened a teashop and a community wellness space at 5520 Germantown Avenue. The team began as a CSA box program as well as a range of other supportive community facing work. The teahouse will be providing a range of teas and locally made healthy snacks during the lecture. In this way, all in-person visitors may be able to get a taste of contemporary Germantown.
