2023 Revolutionary Germantown Festival
On Saturday, October 7th, bring your family and experience 18th-century Germantown at Cliveden and with the sites of Historic Germantown at the Revolutionary Germantown Festival! The festival offers plenty of family-friendly activities such as meeting first-person interpreters Ned Hector, Elizabeth Drinker, and Ona Judge; viewing British and American soldiers and learning about their experiences during the Battle of Germantown, and tours and hands-on activities with or at our sister sites in Historic Germantown. The Museum of the American Revolution is displaying and interpreting a replica of the tent that served as Washington’s mobile headquarters throughout much of the Revolutionary War. Visitors can even assist in setting up the tent!
At 12pm and 3:45pm, there will be two memorials: the first for fallen soldiers from the Battle of Germantown and the second for victims of gun violence in Philadelphia. Local organization Souls Shot: Portraits of Victims of Gun Violence will have an exhibition of portraits of victims of gun violence on display in the Cliveden Carriage House, which can be viewed during festival hours.
The festival ends at 4pm, but the day continues with the Friends Of Cliveden Park! At 4:30pm, join in their costumed dog walk and community party for their event Paws & Pumpkins at Cliveden Park. The event is free, registration through Eventbrite is appreciated: https://www.eventbrite.com/…/paws-pumpkins-at-cliveden….
